The story centers on Tanner (Douglas Smith), a brilliant but deeply troubled man suffering from an incredibly debilitating form of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. Haunted by intrusive thoughts and trapped by highly rigid ritualistic behaviors, Tanner's condition has completely fractured his personal life and strained his relationship with his patient partner, Nicole (Margo Harshman).

Desperate for a radical cure and feeling trapped by his own mind, Tanner decides to take matters into his own hands. He rents a secluded, rustic cabin far away from society to undergo a self-enforced, extreme regiment of Exposure and Response Prevention therapy. The plan is brutal: deliberately trigger his worst fears and force himself to sit with the agonizing anxiety without performing any of his comforting safety rituals.

However, the psychological experiment takes a dark turn. As sleep deprivation sets in and the line between his internal intrusive thoughts and external reality begins to blur, Tanner starts noticing strange occurrences around the cabin. He becomes convinced that someone is watching him from the woods. The narrative evolves into a nerve-wracking, claustrophobic mystery—forcing the audience to decipher whether Tanner is experiencing an acute psychological breakdown driven by his self-inflicted therapy, or if he has inadvertently exposed himself to a very real, deadly physical threat.

💡 Did You Know? 🧠
Rorschach Aesthetic: The film's striking marketing campaign and visual identity heavily feature dynamic inkblot patterns, mirroring the psychological thematic underpinnings of the plot.

Douglas Smith's Commitment: Actor Douglas Smith (known for Big Love and The Alienist) was widely praised by indie critics for his intense physical acting, capturing the exhausting, physical toll that severe anxiety and repetitive compulsions take on the human body.

A Different "Exposure": Because "Exposure" is a highly common title in cinema, it is frequently confused with the 2024 thriller Hidden Exposure (directed by Todd Bishop) or the 2018 documentary Exposure following an all-women expedition to the North Pole. Cannon's film stands out due to its singular focus on clinical psychology.
