Based on the celebrated poem by iconic Brazilian poet Vinicius de Moraes, Balada das Duas Mocinhas de Botafogo follows two young sisters, Marília (Fernanda Boechat) and Marina (Guta Stresser), living in the seaside neighborhood of Botafogo in Rio de Janeiro.

Abandoned by a father who disappeared years prior and neglected by an emotionally distant mother (Malu Valle), the sisters lean on each other as they attempt to fill the profound void in their lives. Wandering through nocturnal Rio de Janeiro, they immerse themselves in casual sexual encounters, wild parties, and meaningless relationships—searching for connection, guidance, or any way out of their existential isolation.
