The Wedding Banquet

Wai-Tung, a successful young Taiwanese man living happily in a long-term relationship with his American boyfriend Simon in New York City, faces relentless pressure from his traditional parents back home to get married and give them a grandchild. To appease his mother and father, who plan to travel to the US for a visit, Wai-Tung agrees to a green-card marriage of convenience with Wei-Wei, a struggling mainland Chinese artist in need of legal status. However, what was supposed to be a quiet paperwork arrangement spirals wildly out of control when Wai-Tung's parents insist on throwing an extravagant, traditional Chinese wedding banquet, forcing the household into a hilarious and emotionally complex tangle of secrets, cultural expectations, and unexpected affection.
