Aphrodite

Set just before the outbreak of World War I in 1914, Aphrodite takes place on a secluded, sun-drenched estate on a Mediterranean island. Harry (Horst Buchholz), a wealthy industrialist, hosts an extravagant, hedonistic retreat for high-society aristocrats, artists, and diplomats, completely detached from the looming political crisis in Europe.

At the center of this opulent world is Pauline (Valerie Kaprisky), a captivating young woman who becomes the focal point of obsession, desire, and fluid romantic entanglements among the guests. As the island sanctuary turns into a theater of decadence, sensual exploration, and psychological games, the impending war threatens to shatter their dreamlike paradise forever.
