Lára (Kristín Þóra Haraldsdóttir) is a struggling single mother in Iceland facing severe financial poverty. Desperate to provide a stable life for her young son, Eldar, she lands a trainee position as a border control officer at Kevlavík International Airport. Living out of her car after being evicted, Lára tries to maintain a brave face for her son while keeping her homelessness hidden from her new colleagues.

During a shift at airport security, Lára notices an irregularity in the passport of Adja (Babetida Sadjo), an asylum seeker from Guinea fleeing persecution over her sexuality. Lára flags the document, causing Adja to be detained and separated from her family while awaiting deportation. As both women find themselves stuck in the bleak landscape of the Reykjanes peninsula, an unexpected bond forms between them, sparking a quiet story of mutual empathy and survival.
