Kate Mayer (Leslie Hope) is a suburban wife and mother approaching forty who realizes her long-standing marriage has broken down beyond repair. Taking a courageous leap toward independence, she separates from her husband, moves out with her two children, and enters the workforce as a receptionist for a real estate agency.
At work, Kate flourishes and gains confidence, eventually earning a promotion to real estate agent. During this transition, she finds herself strongly drawn to her supportive female boss, McNally "Mac" Hays (Wendy Crewson). As the two women begin dating and fall deeply in love, Kate must navigate her own romantic awakening while managing the confusion, prejudice, and friction within her conservative family.
